Google Gmail Now Offers POP Support
I’ve enjoyed using Google’s “GMail” as my web-based, public e-mail. (This is the address I use whenever I need to enter an address on-line.) I just discovered that you can now enable Pop (post office protocol) with GMail, so that you can download messages into your favorite e-mail client. I am now able to receive and send GMail from within Outlook 2003. Cool!

Quick question - is leaving the messages on the GMail server basically emulating IMAP?

I'm not sure. Sorry.

I activated this feature for GMail on my laptop. It is a cool feature. But oddly enough I still like using GSuite by Imspire. Unobstrusive in the system tray, and it still gives me the hierarchical structure to the message "grouping."
I like it becuse it reminds me of the "old" throwback of HyperCards on the Macintosh. Talk about dating oneself!

Michael, thanks you for this blog. You offer some great advice and I feel blessed that the president of a large company is willing to share his tips. I've learned a lot from your blog.
I was thrilled to learn that gmail offers pop3 access. I've been using this fearture for quite a while. It also has a pretty good server side spam filter. With all of the spam I'm getting on my home account, I've been slowly transferring to gmail as my primary email account. I also like that all of your messages are archived for future retrieval, but it's done on their end. I never have to think about it, unless I wonder if I got an email concerning a certain subject.
